FAQ
How do I book a tattoo appointment?
Send me an inquiry from my "Booking" page, and after we have discussed details and are on the same page, I will ask for you to drop a deposit to secure your time slot with me.
Can I bring my kids / friends?
A tattoo shop is not a safe environment for children, so we do ask that anyone younger than 16 remain at home. Friends or family are allowed to join you at your session, however my station and the shop are small, so please limit it to 1 or none.
What materials do you use? Do you have vegan ink?
All materials are from reputable manufacturers. I use sterile, single use, disposable tattoo needle cartridges. Everything used in my set up, including the ink, are entirely vegan friendly. The products used are suitable for all skin types. Please let me know if you have any special needs, sensitivities, or allergies that need to be accommodated.
I’m getting my first tattoo, what should I expect and how can I prep?
I always recommend first timers get a good nights rest, drink plenty of water prior to the appointment and eat a meal about an hour prior to coming in. You are welcome to bring a sugary drink or snack with. You’re welcome to pick up an unscented antibacterial soap and unscented lotion in advance. More information on aftercare can be found on my Aftercare page. Some folks like to bring headphones to their appointments, or something to distract them during the tattoo. Dress appropriately for your tattoo, wear something comfortable and be sure we can reach the tattoo location without hassle (if you have questions on what is appropriate, reach out). Last but not least, do not drink alcohol within 24 hours of your tattoo appointment, as this can thin the blood, make ink hard to put into the skin and will decrease personal stamina.
Does a tattoo hurt?
It can be uncomfortable, but most find it to be manageable and annoying at best. Some compare the feeling of getting a tattoo to that of a cat scratch or a bee sting. Personally, I think bee stings hurt worse than getting a tattoo. Everyone reacts differently to getting a tattoo done.
Do you offer numbing in your shop?
Good question, I no longer carry any sort of numbing cream or gel (although I will always have Bactine*). Brands I have previously felt comfortable working with, have left folks with chemical burns or reactions (no one I know personally, luckily, but this is what I've seen on tattoo forums). I don't recommend using numbing prior to an appointment, unless you have physically tested it out on a similar spot on your body before coming in ready with said numbing agent on. If you insist on using a numbing cream or gel, please make sure the only active ingredient is Lidocaine (and max 5%)... anything else can change the skin texture too much for me to feel comfortable working.
Do you do piercings?
Common question and no, the shop I'm currently at does not have a piercer either.
*Bactine is a wound wash, with 4% Lidocaine, but is tested on animals. If sitting for a 2hr + session, please specify you don't want me using this on you. I generally use this on everyone sitting that long, as it can help to take the edge off of the pain, and I want you as comfortable as you can be during the process. (I also ask everyone who tells me they're vegan how they feel about me using this product on them prior to starting.)
