FAQ
How do I book a tattoo appointment?
Send me an inquiry from my "Booking" page, and after we have discussed details and are on the same page, I will ask for you to drop a deposit to secure your time slot with me.
Can I bring my kids / friends?
A tattoo shop is not a safe environment for children, so we do ask that anyone younger than 16 remain at home. Friends or family are allowed to join you at your session, however my station and the shop are small, so please limit it to 1 or none.
What materials do you use? Do you have vegan ink?
All materials are from reputable manufacturers. I use sterile, single use, disposable tattoo needle cartridges. Everything used in my set up, including the ink, are entirely vegan friendly. The products used are suitable for all skin types. Please let me know if you have any special needs, sensitivities, or allergies that need to be accommodated.
I’m getting my first tattoo, what should I expect and how can I prep?
I always recommend first timers get a good nights rest, drink plenty of water prior to the appointment and eat a meal about an hour prior to coming in. You are welcome to bring a sugary drink or snack with. You’re welcome to pick up an unscented antibacterial soap and unscented lotion in advance. More information on aftercare can be found on my Aftercare page. Some folks like to bring headphones to their appointments, or something to distract them during the tattoo. Dress appropriately for you tattoo, wear something comfortable and be sure we can reach the tattoo location without hassle (if you have questions on what is appropriate, reach out). Last but not least, do not drink alcohol within 24 hours of your tattoo appointment, as this can thin the blood, make ink hard to put into the skin and will decrease personal stamina.
Does a tattoo hurt?
It can be uncomfortable, but most find it to be manageable and annoying at best. Some compare the feeling of getting a tattoo to that of a cat scratch or a bee sting. Personally, I think bee stings hurt worse than getting a tattoo. Everyone reacts differently to getting a tattoo done, and everyone reacts differently to the numbing agent. I've worked with a brand called Hush and TKTX and both are brands I trust. I also sell TKTX at the shop, as there are a lot of fakes out there and I buy in bulk from the UK. You’re welcome to swing by and purchase a tube in advance ($15), and this is meant to be applied 1.5 hrs in advance.
How to Use TKTX:
- Wash the area receiving tattoo or laser treatment with soap and water.
- Cover a Hot Towel on skin for 5 minutes , Dry area completely.
- Apply a thick amount of TKTX numbing cream to the area and rub in thoroughly.
- After rubbing into the skin, apply a 2nd heavy layer of TKTX cream (1/8" or 2-3 mm thick) over the area.
- Cover the TKTX cream with plastic wrap (saran wrap) and keep warm. The heat under the plastic wrap helps activate the cream and keeps the cream from drying out.
- Leave TKTX cream and wrap in place for 45-60 Minutes before tattoo. For long procedures lasting hours over large areas; apply numbing cream over the entire work area, then remove in sections as procedure progresses.
- Skin typically remains numb for 3 - 5 hours once cream is removed from numbed skin depending on skin type and location on body.
Do you do piercings?
Common question and no, the shop I'm currently at does not have a piercer either.
